Once over, it was used as a communal baking shop where locals, in and around Darlington, used to bring their home-made pies, cakes and pastries to be cooked in the old cellars of The Pennyweight. 

Sadly, the ovens within the cellars are no more, but the bakehouse is still alive with our food, offering the traditional great British pub fare for all our visitors.
